Faith No More - "MidLife Crisis"

I hadn't heard this song in years. I dropped in a mix tape that I made in the summer of 1992, and there it was. And it sounded so good. Angel Dust is a somewhat uneven record, but that song is a highlight.

At the same time, I ended up pulling out The Real Thing, their previous record (featuring the still-played-on-radio "Epic"). "Falling to Pieces" and "Underwater Love" have been in my head the last few days.

Rival Schools - "Used for Glue"

They used to have this video in heavy rotation on MTV-X (before MTV yanked the channel off the air), and I doubt I'd have heard it any other way. The band's got a pretty good pedigree, featuring ex-members of Quicksand and CIV. I'm eager to hear how the rest of the album sounds.

Injected - "Faithless"

I'm not really into much of the nu-rock that seems to be floating through the airwaves these days, but this song's pretty catchy. The video sucks, though. (I really hate the new trend of filming a video during the day and using computers to turn the sky dark purple to look like it was filmed at night.) They're apparently from Atlanta, but if so, it's news to me.

The Strokes - "Hard to Explain"

It's funny. I bought Is This It in January on recommendation from my usually-reliable music source, only to draw next to no interest in it. (It's hard to get past the awkward production. Yeah, and you've heard my demos, right?)

But just in the last couple of days, I've suddenly grown some kind of affection for this song. And it's not like I didn't listen to it when I bought it. Somehow, in hearing it on the radio and tv, those little guitar noodles creeped into my head. I spent the bulk of my Monday night activities humming this song.
