Chris Cornell / Rage Against the Machine - Demos

As described in my first Musing, the demos are out, and they sound exactly like you think they would. It's classic Rage music with Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden) singing.

It's slightly moodier and not quite as manic as a typical Rage CD. And that's a good thing, in my opinion. These demos make me really eager for the finished product.

Standout tracks (titles approximate): "In Your House", "I Am the Highway", "If You're Free", "Gasoline".

Soundgarden - Superunknown

One of the best albums of the 1990's, and I'm rediscovering it all over again. (How did I keep skipping "Fresh Tendrils" when this record was new?)

Soundgarden - Songs from the Superunknown

For those unfamiliar with this release, Soundgarden released a multimedia CD-ROM in 1995, titled Alive in the Superunkown. It included four songs and the computer-generated video to the song "Superunknown" The Songs from the Superunknown EP was released as the audio-only version of the disc. It doesn't have the multimedia, but has one additional b-side ("Jerry Garcia's Finger").

I bought this for the video version of "Fell on Black Days", whose differences from the original on Superunknown have always intrigued me. But the b-side "She Likes Surprises" is arguably better than some of the throwaways on Superunknown, and the acoustic version of "Like Suicide" is so shockingly amazing, it makes the album version look like peanuts. This is definitely worth the $5.99 price.
