One Reason I Never Get Anything Done
Added: September 2 2002

(Gameboy Tetris, emulated on a PC with DreamGBC)

I do occasionally think it's funny that most people play all kinds of cutting- edge video games on their PS2's, X-Boxes, or whatnot, yet the game I play the most often came out in 1989.

I was planning to write a nice lengthy Musing about why I never get anything done. But I ran out of time, so it'll have to wait another day.

The teaser to that story: A few years ago, a friend of mine in college was diagnosed as having Attention Deficit Disorder. And, after learning what the symptoms were, she started to wonder if I might as well. I mumbled something about it to my parents, who told me that I had an innate ability to work really hard on something for hours at a time, so, clearly, I didn't have it.

Then I found out that hyperfocusing (ie, focusing really hard on one thing for a really long period of time) is a classic symptom of ADD.

And that part about not feeling like I ever get anything done? Another classic symptom.

And I'd tell you more about it, but I'm late for bed. (As usual.)

To be continued.
